Firefox tab navigation - Nothing to See Here

04:54 pm - Firefox tab navigation

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

So, completely by accident, I discovered today that I can navigate between tabs in Firefox using <Ctrl>+<PgUp> and <Ctrl>+<PgDn>! Huh... This comes only a week or two after realising that <Ctrl>+<Tab> works for navigating (but only in one direction) between tabs.

This is kind of cool. Much as I dislike Windows, the presence of key combinations for all forms of window/pane/form navigation is something which I miss under Linux occasionally. Only in certain circumstances. Really, mostly when using a web browser, these days, so ... yay! My browser lacks it no more.

ctrl+shift+tab worked for me in firefox for going the opposite direction through tab scrolling.

i'm sorta surprised it doesn't work for firefox under linux. i thought it did, but it's been a while since i used firefox.

Under Windows, that stuff is at the OS UI level, not the application level. Under Linux (well, really, Linux has nothing to do with it ... under Gnome), there's no standard way to navigate tabs, so it's up to the application.

Ctrl+Shift+Tab works for me, apparently. Firefox and SUSE 10 on this laptop, with Gnome in use.

<Ctrl>+<Shift>+<Tab> works for me too for rotating backwards through the tabs. I hadn't actually tried it. It is, however, annoying as heck to do. :) <Ctrl>+<PgUp> is easy to do. :)

It's still not, AFAIK, possible to do that stuff in general in Gnome, just Firefox specifically.

Anyhow... useful stuff, all of it. :-)
