I talked with some other Browncoats (Firefly fans) on Saturday, a couple of whom had been at the earlier screening, and it sounded like it was a lot of fun and well worth it. I guess there's quite a lot more to it than just seeing the movie. There's the experience of going and seeing it before the rest of the world gets a chance to... of being in a cinema surrounded by serious fans, not just your regular cinema audience. Had I got to go to the first SF screening, I would've got to see it with two of the stars (Alan and Geena, if I recall correctly) present. I would've got to see Joss' video message to the fans. It sounds like it was a blast. I'm sorry I missed it, despite my initial opinion that I'd rather wait.
So they announced the May 26th showing, and it was sold out as soon as cantstopthesignal.com said they were available for sale. Apparently they were available for sale (and sold out) before the site said they were.
Oh well. It would've been fun, but I'll get to see it in September. :)
BTW, This is ooooooold, and has been mentioned / linked to so many times, but just in case any of you haven't seen it, and, well, for my own benefit, so I don't have to dig around to find it again: http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2005-04-29
