I definitely think it is genetic and recessive. My sib1 doesn't like cilantro because zie thinks it tastes like soap (the majority of what cilantro haters think it tastes like)..

me.. I just had a yummie tofu tandoor salad wrap with cilantro for lunch today... mmm.. cilantro...

I have heard (though have not attempted to verify) that there is a genetic component to the experience of cilantro.

Incidentally, I have no problem with corriander seeds. They taste fine. Note that corriander and cilantro are the same thing -- well, same plant.

Oh, BTW, also ... the fact that it seemed to you that it was mostly British people on the site does not necessarily indicate a genetic tendency among British people or among Europeans. It may just be that the word of mouth mostly travelled around there, at least until now.
